Macao- A City of Surprise
Macao, a Special Administrative Region of China was more commonly known as the City of Casinos. It comprises of Macao Peninsula (the main island), the Taipa and Coloane.
The moment before landing off at Macao Airport, the vast of sea view welcomed us. I was told Macao airport was surrounded by water, and then suddenly from nowhere at all, a small extended road appeared to let the plane landed. Just one small misjudgment, the plane may drop in the sea, I felt lucky we finally stood still in Macao.
After grabbing all the information, maps we needed, we rushed to board the airport bus to another part of Macao, the main island. We were staying in 名宿, which means people’s home near Flora Garden. It took quite some time for us to find the place but it never disappointed me. The room was nice and comfortable, with Japanese 榻榻米屋 design and landlord was a nice lady who really helped us lot during our 1 day staying in Macao.
Recommended by the landlord lady, we settled our lunch at a small noodle shop just right a street apart from the house. 鲜虾云吞面, MOP14, the prawn dumpling was nice and fresh, u can never get this in Sg or Msia.

After the lunch, we took the mini bus to 福融新街, visited the Ruins of St.Paul (大三巴牌坊) The Ruins of St.Paul was built in 1602-1640, symbolically as an altar to the city. Beside it, status the Mount Fortress (大炮台) . This area is named as the Historic Centre of Macao, encompassed architectural legacies interwining between China and Portugal culture

*Portugis historical street in Macao*vs * the ruins/churches vs* the casino
* street selling all sorts of delicacies in Macao*
Just right after the ruins, you can find a long street selling Macao famous delicacies like almond cakes, egg rolls which can only be found here. These are the best handy souvenirs for friends, so, don’t hesitate to buy more, you ll regret if you don’t do so as snacks in Hong Kong will be much more expensive. You can try the Pork chop buns and 炖奶 here , but I would say it tastes not as special as I guess. zuan’s milk jelly would taste better.
After a short visit of the Historic Island of Macao, we took a bus crossed over to Taipa where the airport is located. Tried the Portugal cuisine but nothing special, the oily pork cutlet even made my whole nite in Macao suffered. Right after the dinner, went to Venetian Macao, the 5 star casino+hotel in Macao, sadly, can’t describe how magnificent Venetian is, cox half of the time in Venetian for me was spent in the toilet, yes, toilet. I hate stomach pain and constipation during traveling, and now was only the first day. Anyway, even in the midst of pain, I can still feel the gorgeous of Venetian and the night view of Macao. The night scenery of Macao is definitely a ‘must see’ thing. Remember to take the free shuttle bus from Venetian back to Macao Island, sit by your left side, you will never forget the night view of Macao.
* Vetician Macao*
Macao is a special place. It surprises me of its contrary life during the day and night. The historical monuments, a place of religious worship during the day versus the ‘City of Entertainment’, casinos and bars that open late till the nite. You will definitely find your own pace and life in Macao.
